I know several companies have moved away from Cerakote and started using KG Guncoating (http://www.kgcoatings.com/). I gave it up around 2 years ago on the Cerakote as it would chip or become thin on the edges. Nothing is fool proof but l got tired of redoing coatings that the customers said was failing. Any of the coating is about prep work but when you spend so much time doing it and then in a couple of months stripping it and doing again for free is not a money maker. The KG stuff seems to last longer as its a thinner coating and seems to stand up to wear better over time. KG is a dry film lubricants and thin film protective coating product.

Yup.  Chris Reeve began using it many years ago on his integral hilt, hollow handled survival knives.  The stuff is tough as hell and can be re-applied as necessary.  Not as hard as Cerakote but it still seems to hold up pretty well.

Never dealt with them personally but there is a company called Robar at 7th Avenue and Deer Valley.

Thank you. We will be right in that area as we frequently stop off at the Port of Subs on Deer Valley Rd, will give Robar a try. Now that you mention the name, it jogged the old memory and I actually remember hearing very good things about them from people back east that sent firearms in to them, before moving here.

I called a few places and ended up bringing my pieces to Area-15 in Mesa for Cerakote. They did an excellent job and were very quick, dropped off the parts in the afternoon and picked them up the next day, very nice people.  :thumbup
