They respond to changes in the weather and amount of daylight.  Also water availability will move them around.  Thanks for the pics - really enjoy them.   :thumbup

I placed a trail cam off my property today in an effort to get something different.  According to DNR there are approximately 70 mountain lions in the Santa Catalina and Rincon mountains here in Tucson.   I know there are some here in the Tucson Mountains as I have seen one (on the front porch) and my long suffering wife has seen one crossing the road but that was years ago. Anyway my biggest concern is someone will steal the camera.  I placed it as to my best guess where it will result in some pics but its just a guess.  We shall see...I  don't want my camera stolen...maybe I am being too cynical.  I put my contact info on the tripod....but I don't think that would certainly deter anyone...we shall see I guess.   It is only about a mile from the house so I can check it often.

Maybe if you are really lucky you will catch one of the Jaguars that have been photographed (with a trail cam) down your way.

I saw that.. What a shame they only got his tail.  There is a lot of controversary about what kind of tail it is.  They must have not used a trail cam before because you learn early on to give the cam every chance possible.  That means you set it up to give the cam depth and therefore time to react.  They had it set up with only a left to right exposure.. By the time it reacted he was almost out of the picture.  That's a shame as it would have been a tremendous shot.

All I got on my cam was me picking up the cam.  I had to put it in a place I was sure no one else would wander by and that made it pretty remote...evidently too remote for any wildlife also.  I only gave it one day so I guess that is not a good test.  To tell you the truth it was far more work for what I would probably get outside my house.  I was worried about someone stealing the cam..which I have heard happens a lot.  I guess I do not have much faith in my fellow man...guilty.

When I placed a trail cam off my property earlier this week I tried using the "G-park" app on my I phone .. It worked great.  I just hit 'park me ' and it gave me a red dot where the cam was snd a real time moving dot to return to it... I guess a poor mans gps.. Anyway it worked perfectly.
