Strange 500 Magnum Grip
« on: July 09, 2014, 04:36:44 pm »
Take a look at how Miculek is gripping the 500 Smith and Wesson.  I wonder if it's because of injury.  I've seen video of him rapid firing the same round and he wasn't having much fun.

Here's the rapid fire video, same grip.

Hey I guess if I would actually listen to what he says, I would know why he holds it that way.

I watched it a couple of times. I am not sure if it is a modified grip because of an injury or if it is to prevent an injury. He appears to be having very good control with that grip. Might be to control it a bit more and prevent getting some wrist bend and twist from that huge round.

Indeed... it's because the hammer spur on such a heavy-recoiling gun bites the hand with the thumb over the back.  I kind of guessed as much.

Here's a video where he talks at length about revolver grip and stance.

Excellent.  Thanks for posting this.   :thumbup

Its amazing how he is able to cut through the "conventional wisdom" BS and articulate what works and why in just a few words.   If you think of your grip and stance as a car suspension positioned to absorb bumps and change direction smoothly it makes all the sense in the world.  Add in the necessary components of clarity and speed of vision and its easy to see why he's a champion.

i cant see the videos. but once you get your elbows flared and learn how to flex your wrists without effecting trigger even this beast is very tame. Jerry is a great dude.
