.22 lr reloading kit
« on: August 08, 2014, 07:29:05 am »
Saw this on another site recently. I'd have to be pretty desperate for .22 bullets to consider this, but who knows; the way things are going.

Very nice. Might have to pick one of these up. What I didn't see on their website is what you use for the primer compound.

If you watch the videos they show you that they are using "caps" for a cap gun for the primer.

Interesting concept but l don't feel that unless you had NO ammo it would worth the work.

Ok, I just got off the phone with this guy. Pretty nice guy and he has been experimenting and developing this product for a few years now.

He uses Caps for his priming compound but he also has used successfully stroke anywhere matches. He said he has even used 4-6 strike anywhere matches as the priming compound and grinds up a few of them to make his own "silent" rounds like the powder less rounds.

I can order these and offer them to you all at my cost to get them in the hands of people at $180- a $30 AZGO discount!!!!  That's right folks for $150 you can get one of tees and reload your .22LR.

Shipping and taxes additional to stay legal.

PM me for details and I will add the item to my webstore soon.

Thanks doc. Now that I have the space, I'm think about building another reloading bench. This gives one more reason to build it.

I think the concept is pretty cool... Though I'm still a bit skeptical of the range of the match powered bullet.

Don't spend all your money on this, you still need to get a lathe so you can get to making those swaging dies!

I still want one to play with, but I had to get some .311 molds and sizing dies instead for my Mosin. Guess it'll have to wait a bit longer

Cool idea, but 189$!? Sounds like they are trying to take advantage of the situation. No way is the kit worth that kind of price IMO. 100$ would be understandable. Just my opinion..

i understand how you could think that. But the guy who designed it isn't manufacturing the kit. Last I spoke to him he was having them made and he is funding the project out of his own pocket so I am sure he is paying for smaller runs. He is paying a lot more for them than he should be because he is paying someone to manufacture them as well as in smaller runs.

Manufacturing isn't cheap especially if you want tight tolerances and a bit of QC in your product.

Thats understandable i guess. I just think there should be a way to make it a bit cheaper to produce. They go on about how economical it is, i dont see it.

I look at it as a long term economical view like most reloading is. When you start reloading it will probably be more expensive than buying complete rounds. But as time goes on and you have all the supplies you need readily available it will get heaped and cheaper to reload each round.

Yep. Between casting my own and picking up range brass, my .45acp costs about a nickel a piece. Bulk powder and primers is the key. I am at 15 cents per .223/5.56 at the moment. That will go down when I can swage my own projectiles for it. I'll be close to 8 cents each. Reloading is totally worth it, but it makes it difficult to buy loaded ammo from the store. When you can handload everything you have cheaper than buying .22lr, it hurts one's feelings. I really like my .22s  :'(
