This comes up every now and then.  I don't see it getting anywhere any time soon, if ever.  These things go into committee more times than not and never come out.

Maybe if Barrack Obama gets a second term it may see some movement, but even then I don't think much will happen.  There's just too much empirical data that the last one didn't have any effect.  That makes it very much easier for pro-2A people to call out this foolishness.

EDIT:  This is certainly not to say that you shouldn't be letting your representatives know about this and what you think.  You absolutely should!

I agree.  So much junk and stupidity finds its way into bills and never makes it to the floor.  These guys have their constituents to answer to, and trying to stick stupid stuff into bills or trying to introduce stupid stuff gives them the appearance of doing what the people that voted for them want.

I don't expect anything to come of this.
Eric Philips of Young Americans for Liberty summed up the law.

Obamacare will have the efficiency of the Postal Service, the sustainability of Social Security and the compassion of the IRS,” he said

UPDATE

As predicted...

Cybersecurity Bill Is Blocked in Senate by G.O.P. Filibuster
By MICHAEL S. SCHMIDT

WASHINGTON — A cybersecurity bill that had been one of the Obama administration’s top national security priorities was blocked by a Republican filibuster in the Senate on Thursday, severely limiting its prospects this year.

The Senate voted 52 to 46 to cut off debate, falling eight votes short of the 60 needed to force a final vote on the measure, which had bipartisan support but ran into a fight over what amendments could be proposed to the legislation.

Soon after the vote, the White House released a statement calling the outcome “a profound disappointment.”
