This thread got me doing more research. The .454, .460 and .500 all have much higher muzzle velocity than the .44 and roughly double the muzzle energy (depending on the variables). To me that seems like a HUGE step up in performance, much more than I was expecting. I'm going to dig into this more...
I consider owning and shooting guns to be a fun hobby. That could also save my life or the lives of others.

    454 casull SRH with 7 1/2barrel with 300 grain bullets the weight tames it down, I don't think I want shoot a ruger Alaskan. I have shot a SP 101 357 with  a 2 1/4 barrel and 180 grain bullets it was a bit to hang on to.

    .50 Cal revolver (S&W I think), two shots, gave it back...not interested in recoil that's not fun.
