What would you all recommend for a good .22 LR target pistol? I've heard good things about the Ruger Mark series, but what about others?

I think Ruger pretty much has that market cornered.

The Browning Buckmark is a good alternative...

I recently had a RIA 1911 22 come into a class and it worked great. I even had the chance to use it and it ran great. I was impressed by it.

An old High Standard, but a Ruger will work good too.

Browning Buckmark, Ruger, S&W, High Standard all make target style pistols with the heavier barrels

I just picked up a S&W 22 a-1 the other day. Taking it out in a few hours to run it through its paces.

+1 for the SR22. Great little gun that cycles anything. As for the M&P 22, haven't shot one but if it is of the same quality as the higher caliber M&Ps then I don't think you can go wrong with that one either.

Colt Match Target with a 4-1/2" barrel. I've owned one for around 40 years now and I've yet to find anything I like better.

Had a few of these at the show yesterday. All right around the Grand mark. They were nice though. Feel great in the hand.

I would look at the used market for either an S&W 41 or a High Standard Victor. Otherwise I would recommend a Ruger Mark II or III

Certainly Ruger 22s fit the bill

But also look at older model High Standards (Supermatic, Tournament)

Can't go wrong with either

Alas, no love for the wheelgun.

I still like my S&W Model 17 but bullseye pistol is now the province of the autoloader. Its hard to beat the S&W Model 41 for right out of the box performance at the range. Rugers and Brownings can be made to shoot that well but not without the services of a gunsmith. High Standard is also right up there in terms of accuracy and handling.

+1 for the Ruger MKs - it's the most accurate 22 pistol I own or have tried (not that I've tried a LOT of different 22 pistols) and for purposes of full disclosure, I've shot my MkIII 22/45 more than any other 22 pistol, so it stands to reason with reasonably good accuracy and lots of practice - that I would be the most accurate with that choice.

On the subject of the Smith Model 41, they just sent out an email showing their new tricked out Performance Center Model 41, listed at $1579 MSRP.

I've also shot a Ruger since the 1970's and always liked its accuracy, plus there plenty of aftermarket performance parts available to tune them up.

Looks like the woodsman's are that price and more. I would pay that much for a .22 if I had it that is. : )
