« on: May 28, 2013, 05:58:08 pm »
My App went out on 05-02-2013 and return back today 05-28-2013 not to bad for the Federal Government, heck my CCW renewal took longer

Next will be my 01 and then I can start selling from home.

Now that you've got the C&R, don't sign it. Make some copies, sign them, and send them off (mail or fax) to J&G, AIM Surplus, Graf & Sons, Midway USA, Brownell's, etc.

Don't sweat it too much. The biggest issue is that most dealers seeing your FFL want to see it signed in ink - for faxed or emailed copies it won't make any difference. For snail-mailed copies they still may not even notice.

We have had no issues with our license and getting set up by vendors.  C&R they may scrutinize a little more but We send them a color copy with FILE COPY transposed over it and so not one of our vendors have blinked.

Forms are to the right.  Read the FAQ as well. Good info.

    DVF got the first question.

The cost is $30 every 3 years.

You have to keep all the C&R eligible firearms you buy and sell recorded in your bound book.

It doesn't take long and the savings from the dealer discounts it gets you can be well worth it, even if you never buy a C&R gun.

^ This is exactly why I didn't do it for a long time.

Then I got the form, filled it out, and dropped it in the mail.  It literally took me 20 minutes, and I was eating a sandwich at the same time.

So easy a contractor could do it.    ;D

I don't see why you couldn't.  Mail would be the only issue I think.

Ran into something interesting this morning as I was faxing out copies of my C&R to known vendors.

It seems that J&G's web site indicates that I need to send a color copy of the C&R with an original signature AND a photocopy of my drivers license.  That sort of took me by surprise given that MidwayUSA asked for nothing more than a faxed copy of my C&R...

To clarify my previous statement, I mean the slowness of overseas mail.  I don't know how reliable it is where you're at.  But beyond that, I don't see any reason you couldn't do it from pretty much anyplace that has mail service.

I haven't actually used mine yet, but I hear it can sometimes be pretty good.  It does seem to depend on the item though.

The discount very much depends on the item. Mostly it equates to getting the best sale prices all the time.

They must have changed their policies.  I submitted both my 03 and my 01 FFLs to them via e-mail.  Granted they were full color but they never asked for an original.  I originally uploaded my DL to them to purchase ammo.  Something must have changed. ~Craig

My C&R application is still not complete and has been a series of errors that now border on ridiculous.  Sometimes when things go wrong they have a habit of continuing to go wrong.
I originally sent my application in from a printed form from their web site.  I received it back saying they needed complete info because I had "altered" the form.  As it turns out when I printed it out on my failing and lame ass computer it inexplicably  left out one section and I failed to compare that to the online original.  So they sent it back...my fault.  So I sent it again........it was returned again.  It seems I had purchased a computer at the Apple store....a store that the credit card company has had a ton of fraudulent charges with. The credit card shut the card down thinking it was used fraudulently.  Upon calling the low lives they "Claim" to have called my home and asked me to call them about my card..did not happen.  In the meantime my long suffering wife was in Michigan on business for six weeks....her card was denied also...thank you very much. I called the credit card company and they asked me about a purchase of a certain dollar amount on a certain date last month.  I told them I had no idea who that charge was for and would have to check.  Based on that I kickass failed my security check and my card was still suspended.  I finally called the credit union and after much trauma that need not be mentioned here, in the interest of brevity, it finally was restored.  I then resent the application some some weeks ago.
I then received in the mail a full set of class three application from the county sheriffs office--I had to sent them a copy which is a requirement on the C&R application. They sent me an application  "To Make and Register a Firearm" and to include a photograph also a "Tax Paid Transfer and Registration of Firearm ATF form 4, also requesting a set of inked fingerprints, a recent photograph (2x2 please) plus a copy of my drivers license or birth certificate. Also in the package sign and date a copy of "Pima County Sheriff's Department to Applicants for Local Law Enforcement Clearance Pursuant to the National Firearms Act". All of that is nonsense since all they have to do is file the copy of the BAFT application.  This required a series of seeming endless call to the pima county sheriff (no caps intended) to try and straighten it out.  Of course all I got was voice mail to which I left my pitiful story.  Of course after two call asking him to call me nothing.  Through sheer luck, mine good and his bad, I finally caught him at his desk.  He said "Oh yeah..I got your message." He stated the lady that used to do this left and we don't really know how to do this.  Maintaining my composure I told him all he is required to do is file the copy of the batf form....not to take any direction from me., a mere citizen, he said he would check with the batf (which i had already done) and we left it with that after his lengthy protestations on how busy he was. I have since called the Phoenix office and a very helpful lady told me there was no kickass record of my application at all.  She gave me the 800 number of the office in Virginia and i called this morning again for the third time and after speaking to the cretin that answered the phone and was told once again for the third  there is no record of my application.  After each of these calls they forward my call to the person handling the az applications and I left my third pitiful plaintive request for info on application.
You guys that got your easily be thankful...mine may never come.

Yeah... you don't need to interact with the sheriff's office at all.  Just send them a copy and forget it.  What they do with it is on them.

As for the ATF, it's a WAY overloaded agency.  I'm not surprised they didn't find it.  It's probably in a mail bin waiting to be opened.  I'd just wait another week and try again.  If they don't hit your card in the next two or three weeks, THEN start looking closer.
