Title: WTB: a well worn 10/22

I've got a problem, I have too much nice stuff. Every thing I own is a wannabe safe queen, even the Hi Point. So I'm looking for a 10/22 I can take out for the Zombie Hunt or Appleseed without worrying about it getting banged up.
I'm looking to buy a decent 10/22, compact, takedown, lite, or even carbine. It doesn't need to be perfect, if it's been well used that's even better. As long as it shoots straight and the iron sights are good.

Seems to be the fate of most if not all 10/22s. Instead of aging gracefully they get rebuilt into bench shoot only safe queens accessorized beyond any field usefulness. I bet if you ever find a plain Jane you could not refrain from doing it again . :facepalm Solution is simple . Get a Marlin model 60 or one of its variants . Great guns that do the same thing and you will not feel compelled to fix what ain't broken. In apples to apples stock as a rock form probably a better utility 22 rifle anyway. :shocked In normal times pawn shops are full of them , now days like everything else , Good Luck.

Even "plain Jane" can be deceiving. Mine looks like it just came out of the box. But it is pillared, bedded, floated. Barrel band is relieved to not touch the barrel. Kidd drop in trigger. Mueller APV AO 4.5-14 x 40 scope.Still needs chamber recut (no more Stingers) and bolt work. It no longer groups like out of the box. My daughter (14 at the time) shot it and claimed it as hers.

Just take a safe queen out and rough it up. Let those marks be your memory marks with your history...
Couldn't agree more, brother. I've NEVER understood the whole "safe queen" thing? These are amazing pieces of machinery that were designed to be used, not hidden away in some dark, climate controlled box just to be ogled at once in a great while.
