Sporterized Mauser

Last year my wife gave me this sporterized Mauser for my birthday. It has some interesting markings. The receiver is marked "Erfurt 1916", and "1920", and has what appears to be a flaming bomb on the stock. I'm not sure if its shootable; I need to have it checked out by a gunsmith first. I've had it for over a year but there's a shortage of gunsmiths in California. The trigger is very smooth for an old surplus rifle. My plan has been to clean it up and maybe take it hunting one day. We'll see what the gunsmith says.

There's not much to check out. Get yourself an appropriate field gauge to check the headspace, make sure the bore is clear, look over the bolt for cracks, and then give her a go.
