I think my handloads don't like blue states...lol
« on: November 20, 2016, 10:38:13 am »
Just got back from Vegas and took a trip out to the Clark County shooting facility.

We shot a few rounds of Federal GMM, no problem. My buddy is zeroing a scope and I make a few fouling shots.

Now we're ready to shoot...I open my box of handloads prepared to fire a nice tight group. First couple of rounds touch and in happy but after that I load a round, squeeze the trigger and "CLICK" nothing.

Open the bolt eject the round. Theres a nice primer strike but no ignition. Chambered another round and the same thing. Tried this a few more times.

The factory GMM still worked fine So we used that for the day.

Ive used this same handload with success for awhile now so am a little confused as to what might be going on.

Federal GMM brass, Winchester LRP, 175gr SMK, 43.6gr Varget. Primers all look properly seated. all of the primer pockets were uniformed prior to being seated.

ANyone have any ideas?

Bad batch of primers is my guess
Heat it till it's hot, then beat it with a hammer until it's the shape you want.    Blacksmith's advice that works for pretty much everything in life

I managed to accidentally  kill a couple of primers with case lube once.
