So you have about $1600.00 bucks
« on: August 08, 2017, 04:38:39 pm »
I started thinking what I would get with about $1600.00 after I read the thread regarding the Glock with upgrades at Bear arms.

https://arizonagunowners.com/index.php/topic,13040.msg157876/topicseen.html#msg157876

Certainly not a complete list but here are a few of my choices. What would yours be?

I know its apples to oranges ... if glock is your thing then there is not going to be any platform better but .. I started to think .. If I had $1600ish burning a hole in my pocket what would I get

Could be one of the sexiest pistols ever!

.45 goodness

Oh .. ok this one might do as well.

The above are massaged by qualified smiths and contain a host of one off cool kid parts.

I had the above in stainless and its sale is one of my biggest gun sale regrets EVER. That sucker was a tack tack tack driver.

I like metal guns so I will have to do a little more searching on what plastic gun I would want that approached $1600 bucks. I am not sure any of these above are gaming guns though but I dont know the intended purpose of the $1600 glock.

Maybe a Grand power X trim but .. parts and support and hard to get . But I had a k100 and it was a pretty sweet gun.

I would probably send a Beretta to Wilson Combat or buy a EDC X9 if my budget was bigger.

I might opt for one of the Dan Wesson 1911's.    :hmm

I'd be looking at one of the Springfield EMP pistols in 9mm. :drool

I'd be looking/begging/mooching for another $500 so I can invest in a STI 2011.....

I'd pick up a Smith and Wesson M&P 45 M2.0 and a Shield in 45acp and get holsters, extra mags, ammo and a good set of night sights for both.  In fact, once S&W gets around to it and they get my 3Point5 order out then I'll have the M&P 45 M2.0 and I'll be able to do a review on it for ya'll and post it to my YouTube channel.  :thumbup

That's a lot of money for a pistol.
Are you going to compete with it?

Safe queen?

Collection piece?

I've been fortunate to run STI and nice pistols and imo they weren't worth the hassle

I admit I have a bias toward cz but.....

And they are local what more could you ask for.

I have had the cts on my pistol shortlist for awhile.

With two separate lotteries over 300 MEEELion, the wife and I started the "what would you buy" discussion in the car.

I was really hard pressed to come up with more than 5 guns that I'd like to own, and none of them are outrageous safe queens either.

1. AR15
2. Semi Auto Tactical Shotgun
3. Full sized frame S&W 9 that takes the same mags my 9c does
4. Some sort of long range gun
5. A 357 to replace my current 357.  Something with a 6" barrel.   Might even step up to a 44Mag.  This is the camping / bear gun.

Maybe a 10/22 or some other stuff like that.  Maybe that 500 S&W lever gun just for shiggles.  Maybe a Keltec Sub-2000.  I'm sure I'd buy more than 5, play with some and then dump them when they became uninteresting.  But keepers?  Meh - 5.  And I'd probably sell the competing guns already in my safe.

If I owned one, I'd do everything in my power to compete with it!   :thumbup  In my opinion, the STI 2011's are in a world of their own.  They are a different beast than the STI Spartans that we've both shot.  Don't get me wrong.... I like my Spartans!  Their challenge was that they aren't a true STI pistol.  STI collaborated with Armscor of the Philippines to create the STI Spartan series.   STI provided the small component parts; Armscor provided the frame. slide, and all of the assembly labor.  STI did the final inspection and then shipped them out.  The Spartans are much smoother than standard RIA pistols but aren't (again IMO) as good as mid/top-tier 1911's.  Are they worth this much cash?  Maybe... maybe not!  That said I like them so I guess they are worth it to me.

If I had $1600 to spend on a gun right now I'd get a SA EMP like Wyatt then save a little more and get a Beretta 1301 Tactical  :woot

Martimus .. I so dig it. I have NO, Zero need for that Shadow 2 but oh my goodness. I will admit to a stir'in when I see the CZ Shadow 2. I will never again have it like that to feel comfortable buying a toy for that much money but ... if I ever sold off an extra body part that sucker would be mine!!

I would buy a new Glock 19, add night sights and a NY-1 trigger and spend the 1000 bucks on ammo.

What would you buy if someone gave you $1,600 after you bought that Glock and ammo?

If it doesn't have to be a handgun, I'm currently scoping out (no pun) a Ruger Guns it Scout rifle in .450 bushmaster.
Spend the balance on dies and bullets to reload for it.

More Ammo. I have more guns than I shoot, but I can always use ammo.  Although, If I could find a 2" S&W M12 Airweight, that would be cool!!

I couldn't think of anything that fell near that, then it came to me;  a S&W Model 41.

I didn't even consider a nice rimfire. A unfired Engraved model 41 would be slick.

To add to the list, A vintage Swensen or Devel 1911 to the list.

I'd buy that P-38 from a guy outside a gun show in Miami , saying it was "Hitler's personal Luger"

Then I'd put it on Backpage here and double my money
