“Nobody kill anybody” weekend
« on: August 09, 2017, 10:27:42 am »
Wow ... When I was a kid in high school we would have Christ the king weekend and a few others which were small fairs held in Church parking lots or block parties and there would be rides and Zeppoles, one of my all time favorite heart clogging pastry, and dirty water dogs. Sure there might have been a fist fight or two over the period it was up as guys were jockeying for position with the girls but

“Nobody kill anybody” weekend

Kind of a catchy name but reeks of ebonics.

Telling Baltimore’s criminals not to kill anyone for three days turned out to be too much to ask.

Two deadly shootings Saturday marred the city’s “Nobody kill anybody” weekend but activists behind the grassroots ceasefire campaign aren’t conceding defeat.

Another shooting Monday occurred an hour after the ceasefire period ended.

“I would point to Friday,” Corneilius Scott of Mothers of Murdered Sons and Daughters told Fox News. “There were no killings on Friday and how often does that happen?”

Sadly, not often enough. Baltimore has a murder rate more than double that of Chicago, a city where violence has become international news. In June, President Trump tweeted that Chicago crime and killings had reached "such epidemic proportions” he was calling in the feds to help.....

Yup.  Sad but true.  And even sadder is the fact that it is both predictable and preventable.   :facepalm
"A dying culture invariably exhibits personal rudeness. Bad manners. A lack of consideration for others in minor matters. A loss of politeness, of gentle manners, is more significant than is a riot."

Have you ever thought about it,  if someone murdered a person on an odd calendar day and they were  legally killed immediately  or if they did it on an even calendar and legally released, which day would the highest number of murders be committed?

Well, statistically there would be more murders on odd numbered days no matter what, since the week has one more odd than even.  :-P
