Vortex Viper HS-T 4-16 44mm with MRAD reticle
« on: August 10, 2017, 09:41:34 AM »
I bought this scope as a package deal with a Mossberg MVP LC .308 rifle.  I understand a mil is 3.6 inches at 100 yards and you have to turn the turrets 10 clicks to achieve this 3.6 inch shift.  However, I do not know what the lines on the cross-hairs represent?  There is a diagram of the reticle in the manual and photos on the internet but these further confuse me.....I am not scope savvy nor technical....

each large line is 1 MIL or 3.6 inches at 100 yards. so whats cool is instead of dialing on your scope to shoot further now you can just hold in the reticle
the half hash marks are .5 Mils

Good info.  I wonder why that couldn't of been stated in the manual :hmm.  I hope to take my rifle to the range next week to see what I can do.....

it is a second focal plane scope so if you do utilize the reticle for holds, keep it on 16x.

if not then value of the hash marks in the reticle change.

16x=1or true to the mil value
12x=1.3
8x=2 or each line in the reticle is now worth 2. so 1 is 2 and 2 is 4.
