Alliant pistol powder

Looking for a reasonable start data on  following.
alliant pistol powder

pushing a
9mm, 115 gr rnl coated
wanting to push it at least 1200 fps

as i generally run up about a dozen or two to test and chrono, and see how they hit point of aim at 50 yds, don't want a full on load, its plinking ammo,

i've looked at the books, just want to know who does what and what with

If the OP is asking about Alliant pistol powder generally the web site or a reloading manual might be a good place to start.  If the OP is asking about an Alliant powder to buy, selecting one from the above list would be a good place to start.   If the OP is asking about an Alliant powder already in hand properly identifying it would be a good place to start - especially before attempting to load ammunition with it.

I'm sure he probably has loading manuals and since he got to this site, he knows how to use the Internet.

I've reloaded and tested a bunch of coated Bayou 115 LRN using several powders including Power Pistol. Started at 5.8 grains of PP but accuracy wasn't very good. Accuracy improved as charge went up, with 6.5 grains of PP being one of my most accurate of all powders tested. 6.5 grains gave a velocity of  1149fps average out of my Shield(3.1" barrel), and 1237fps from my S120(4.7" barrel). Other best powders I use with this bullet are BE-86, CFE Pistol and Autocomp. Oh, and COAL I use is 1.110". Hope this answers your question.

I use Unique and Bullseye for 9mm, for Reliant powders, but the rod style powder granules are harder to meter nicely through my UniFlow. Mah druthers are Accurate Arms #7 or #2.

Before you work up a load at 1,200 for coated, have you checked with the bullet manufacturer to make sure it's rated for that speed? You're probably at the very top end for a coated round and will want to take it slow.

I use Bullseye with a 124 gr coated (Bayou Bullets) and 4.2 gr gets me up close to 1,050 fps and I usually leave it at that. With a 115 gr out of a 5" barrel (you didn't say what you were shooting it out of), I'd start with a a load of 4.6 gr Bullseye, after you make sure 1,200 is the rated speed for your bullet, and work up from there .1 gr at a time. I wouldn't exceed 5.1.
