Earthquake / Asteroid? 11/12/2020 12:03 and 12:32 PM
« on: November 12, 2020, 09:31:32 pm »
Anyone feel a shaking around noon today?  We had two hit the house.  First one shook the crap out of us rattled doors.  Door to the garage was deadbolted and I turned to see the gap around the door frame and door wiggling about.  Tilted pictures.  Creaked and popped the house.  Felt a lot like a sonic boom but all I heard was a grinding growling sound.  Wife and I looked at the door, looked at eachother, looked at the dogs going nuts, looked back at the door and back at each other.  Maybe 10 to 15 seconds of solid rumble.  Had a very BeetleJuice alternative reality feel to it - like the house got angry and went crazy.

Second one started off to be every bit as impressive but was only a three second shake.  Felt more intense for the three seconds but was over before I could even think about panicking.  Social Media from I-17 and Care Free to Black Canyon City lit up with people that head and felt it.  I reported it to USGS but they have yet to declare an Earthquake and they do pretty quickly.  I know the Leionidis Meteor Shower is going on and maybe we caught a stray shot or two across the bow?

Just checking to see if anyone else felt it or heard someone that felt it.

Nothing here in the southeast valley but we got gardeners and construction people all taking day here.

Could it have been a sonic boom of sorts?

That's what I think.  I think the first one was a double sonic boom like the shuttle use to make coming in.  Only this one was from a falling meteor / asteroid.  Not sure on what the difference is.  But that's just my guess since it was head and felt so wide but not recorded by the USGS as an Earthquake.

It seems strange that there has not been anything reported on the local or national news.
It must have been very local.

I heard one around that time near Congress on the 89.   It was multiple sonic booms from a couple of Jet jockeys dog fighting.  They were running much lower altitude than normal so it was very loud.

We didn't hear or feel anything here.

You guys got land on top of ancient super special Indian burial grounds? Do anything to anger the spirits recently? Cast doubt on their voting dead perhaps?  ;-D ;-)
