Value of Cannondale bike

Hi everyone. My brother is the bike rider. He gave me an older Cannondale cyclocross off road bike and I'm looking to sell it and use the money to get him something nice. That's why I can't ask him about this.

I don't know much about bikes. It has a rigid frame and a carbon fiber fork. Shimano derailleurs, I assume there are different grades of quality. It has straight handle bars and disc brakes and almost new tires. I want to sell it locally but I have no idea what to ask for it. I can send pictures if it helps.

Any help would be appreciated.

Check with local bike shops.  They sell used bikes - probably buy some and some they harvest parts from for the repair shop.  Local classified ads might help.  Without knowing more about it or seeing pics any dollar figure anybody throws out would just be speculation.

Thanks. I did contact a local bike shop and they suggested looking in a bike Kelly Blue Book. Since it has after market parts I don't think that will help.

It will help if the aftermarket parts are named and described, possibly with pictures or a walk around video to show details and condition.

When aftermarket parts are added, it's usually (just like with guns) an effort to improve certain features. Just the fact that such add-ons exist is evidence that there's a market for them, and many prospective buyers will consider them a plus. Having them already installed is another plus. When describing them, avoid the term "aftermarket parts", and refer to them as "upgrades".

My Grandson (21) has extensive knowledge of bikes and their values. I'll show him this post when he's up and running...

Probably a lot later, he sleeps very late an Saturdays.

Year, model, upgrades? They can be worth from $300 to $4500. Carbon, 10-speed, $1100-$2700.

Look on the EBay and other auction sites for comparable asks/offers.

After discussing this all again with Grandson, I can't pin him down.

My advice, consult the auction sites.
