Anybody know a thing or 2 about horses?
« on: February 26, 2021, 05:50:12 pm »
Long story short, my horse whines at me every time it sees me at feeding time. I dont like it, to me its a demand to feed me type thing. How to do try to stop this behavior?

Is this your first horse ?
Just about any animal out there gets excited come feeding time.
I have been around horses my whole life and have seen it all come feeding time.
Not all but some can get excited come feeding time and will whinny , jump around , kick the stall walls , run around in circles , you name it.
    I don't see a problem.

Maybe he is just happy to see you.

Yes it’s my first horse, if it’s just happy to see me then I’m fine with that. I just didn’t know if it was a bad behavior act. Thanks for the advice.

Over time you will learn about each other.
We got a horse 5-6 years ago. I'd never been around horses before. We're buddies now.
We used to board him at a ranch with several other horses. One of them claimed me as his human.
Now we have the ranch and are boarding others' horses. No "connection", but we all get along (except for a mere that is an a-hole to the other 3)
Ours, an extremely old retired working horse, now thinks he's a dog.

That’s ok, all my dogs have thought horses were dogs, too.

Sounds like your horse is a democrat. Free everything on demand!  ;-)

If you want to know about horses you need to ask a woman.  After all 70% of horse owners are female.
