Newbie in Goodyear, AZ. Been in AZ over 20 years but grew up in Big Sky country, Montana, on a real live cattle ranch. I was around guns as a kid but never a pistol. Shooting rock chucks with a 22; deer with a 30 odd or 30/30. Now grown, with a family, i finally ordered my first pistol, after handling many at local gun stores and doing a fair bit of research. Got the Walther PDP 4.5 inch for me and the Sig 365xl for the wife (who is also new to guns in general but enthusiastically wants to join in and has done so at shooters world). Already have a shot gun and a few longs inherited from my Dad, and a air gun for my kiddo’s.
I actually ordered the PDP sight unseen in person. Shot the PPQ and Sig Scorpion and 365 at shooters world and really liked both, but read up on PDP and seems like it is a great upgrade from PPQ, so ordered it. Love the grip and the trigger on both guns I ordered. (This is for home defense only right now)
Both guns are set to arrive this month if all goes well, but meanwhile, I keep reading up on a million topics, like “why paddle holsters are a bad idea” that someone on the Walther pdp forum stated today. Interesting. Also ordered CHPWS plate and Holosun 509. The 365 is coming with an optic. It’ll be nice to see two different optics - never had anything other than an old old scope for an optic, and rarely that.
So hello all. Point out the free ammo when you have time. And would someone please tell me if they’ve been to Virgil Ellis shooting range as it looks interesting to me and I might go. I’ve been to Joe Foss and Ben Avery before and they are fine. Just branching out a bit.
