Does one have to use magnum small pistol primers when reloading 38+p?

    nope, my experience is if you are a looking for super duper accuracy or fire power yeah is supposedly helps, i dont buy into it, but hey if it sells,
    everyones milage will differ, but can say if you are a target or contest guy, it may have some assistance in your skill set or maybe not,

    a std pistol primer works fine, unless of course you are a super duper operator, good luck with load.

    I never found them necessary here.  I guess if I was loading a ball powder and/or using them in really cold weather I might consider it but these days you load what you can find, eh?   :hmm

    No Sir, my reloading manual says normal small pistol primers

    I have use magnum primers in the small pistol application when that was literally the only thing available, but I re did the load due to the hotter flame/higher pressure. The few times I had to do that in 9mm I ended up going .2 grains down to accommodate.
