My occasional, absences during 2021.
« on: January 10, 2022, 10:11:01 am »
Sickness. Covid, Communal pneumonia, and such; seven hospitalizations ranging from 3 days to two weeks apiece. This includes Thanksgiving, and I just barely got out before Christmas.

Money is not an issue. I'm 100% VA permanent and total disabled, so all expenses are dealt with through that. Then, end of 2020,  a Marine Vet friend intro'd me to the Humana Valor policy, which does all the same things except meds for Vets like myself wh0 get that from the VA already, with a few small co-pays. The difference is I get my choice of hospitals. No stones thrown at the VA, but my last hospital stay in Tucson was a bit like a prison sentence. Tucson VA is unbeatable for specialty services, but I'd prefer not staying there for a bed stay. For a start, it's about 85 miles from home. Maybe not so much the VA as being stuck in a hospital room for days on end.

Hanging tough, not enjoying it. Lost 15lb, and am weak as a kitten. But I'm coming back; it's mainly just a matter of determination and persistence.

The part where it's really annoying is where it impacts my daytime shooting outings. I'm basically a year behind in my primary projects. I did manage to complete one, the 24" 6.5 Grendel. I shoots a single silver dot at 100yd, about dime sized, using handloaded 90gr Speer TNT's off the bipod. I'm satisfied with the one project and frustrated over the others. Next is the 20" 6.5 Grendel and 120 Sp0eer Gold Dots., and I may put the spare 20" 6.5 Grendel barrel on the CMMG Bull WASP Upper.

This leaves another half dozen projects, but patience and persistence ought to serve adequately. My main issues relate to heat. Too little, and the cold-exacerbated COPD kicks in, and much over 80, and I'm weak from the heat.

I'm a Spring/Autumn kinda guy... not ideal.

Not lookin' to be in a gunfight, but if you find yourself mixed up in one, it might be kinda nice to have a gun...

Sounds like you have had a tough go of it!

If you need any help with anything, send a message.

Sounds like the temp range you need to be 100% may require a move to some higher elevations during summer!

Good to hear from ya again!

And the grendel is an awesome round. Mine is just an 18" semi auto and it's boring to shoot at 500 yards.

Sorry for the rough patch in 2021 and hoping 2022 is a much better year for you.  Take care of yourselves and send a PM if there's anything we can do to be of assistance.
