I'll give you a range report in a week or so.  Need to get it cleaned up and see if I can find some ammo around somewhere.  We're starting to see the shelves replenish here, but some calibers are still in short supply.  303 British and 7.5 French are both scarce at the moment.  Been looking for the 7.5 for a MAS I should be getting delivered on Friday.   ;-D ~Craig

Last time I looked all that .303 British was especially pricey.

Thanks, Coelacanth.  It looks like they do have it in stock.  I'll order a couple of boxes later today.   :-)  Looks like a range day coming up.  lol

Know I promised a range report and pictures ages ago, but business has been keeping me hopping.  :D  Finally got the little Enfield at least cleaned up and out to the range.  For all the horror stories I had heard about it 'kickin' like a mule', I didn't find it bad at all.  I was shooting targets at 25 meters and was getting groups about the size of a quarter.  Not overly accurate, but still lethal at range.  Even manage to hit the metal plate at the 200 meter line.  She looks rough from a life of hard work and use, but she's still a beaut.  ~Craig

And if anyone has debated picking up a 1916 Spanish Mauser from Samco, here's the one I got.  Found a couple of small rust spots under the wood, but overall, once she was cleaned up, she's a good looking rifle.  Had her out today as well and her groupings were tight.  Five rounds at 25 meters about the size of a dime.  The Spaniard's re-chambered it to .308 Winchester and she had no problem at all with modern loads.  :)  ~Craig

I love all of the Enfields but the number 5 is really special. If you find a bayonet for it, that would be a real plum! The bayonets are very scarce and have a large ring that slides over the flash hider.

Be advised, though. I remember brutal recoil and wandering zeros when the barrel got warm.

Is that recoil pad a hoot? It's a piece of hard rubber!

Yes.  Lovely little rifles.  A flash spreader on one end and a recoil enhancement device on the other.  If you like short Enfields you must check out on of Jessel's tanker conversions of the No.4 .  It is exactly what the No.5 should have been but wasn't.
