heres the thing about that...T had looked at it the last time we went shooting and we both wondered about that as well...

Like I said I don't know shit about shotguns but it seems like lifter doesn't have proper movement back and forth but I keep on wanting to think that the problem is up on top and not the bottom.

I found a bad apple at work and it had little to no lifter tension. Granted this was a Deerfield(same patent) and it was a .16ga with a light .12ga dummy.
Bullets are the only things that do their job only after they're fired.

Well I think we (870 mag) has figured it out. I would order a new lifter spring and work out from there. If it was me. If it's new maybe you can send it back & make them fix it?

It just feels like I am having to put forth too much energy to get it to cycle.

How new is the shotgun? Some newer shotguns you have to rack it like you mean it until it wears in a bit.
I consider owning and shooting guns to be a fun hobby. That could also save my life or the lives of others.

Could be the lifter/spring and it could be a slightly rough transition ( burr ) into the chamber.  A slightly out of spec crimp on the shotgun shell could also be causing your problems or at least making them worse.  I'd check the lip of the chamber with my finger ( carefully ) and if its got a sharp edge you might consider touching it up with some emery cloth.  Barring that, I'd buy a box of different 2 3/4 " shells and see if the problem repeats itself.

True, true.   :yes   But you dragged it out over two or three relies.  I just sort of condensed it into the Reader's Digest version for those of us with ADD.    ;-)

I kind of remember that.  It was a strange problem.  :hmm

Not much could be done in the field though.  I'd need to have it at the bench to really scrutinize it.
